GyÃ¶rgy Bokor started in sports in athletics, but turned to basketball in the late 1940s. He earned a silver medal at the 1953 European Championships, and played on three Hungarian national championship teams. Bokor earned a degree in architecture at Technical University, and later worked as an architect. His wife, Maria Barany-Bokor, was also a top basketball player who competed at the 1948 European Championships for Hungary.
