Carl Oscar Borg was born in Sweden. He was among the artists in America who interpreted the "American West," documenting in particular the customs and religious ceremonies of the Indians. In 1901 he emigrated to the United States. He returned briefly to Sweden from 1934-38, but could never emotionally separate himself from his beloved Grand Canyon and returned to the USA.
