Alfonso Bortolotti was an Italian sculptor, engraver and painter. He graduated from the Scuola Industrie Artistiche di Bologna in 1932. He continued his studies in the various techniques – including sculpturing under [Ercole Drei] – until the end of the 1930s. For more than 40 years he taught art in Bologna. Since 1950 he was a 1950 corresponding member of the Accademia Clementina. His major works were sacred sculptures for churches in Italy. In addition, he created several oil paintings. The Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Bologna exhibits his Athlete and on the Certosa cemetery the tomb of the Artioli family, former owners of the Bugatti car factory, shows a bronze bas-relief designed by Bortolotti.
