Kelcie Banks went to the 1988 Seoul Olympics as a favorite, having won the 1986 US and World Championships, and a gold medal at the 1987 Pan American Games. But at Seoul, Banks was knocked out in round one by Dutchman [Regilio Tuur], ending his Olympic dream. Banks turned professional after the 1988 Olympics, fighting through 1997, and finished with a pro record of 22 wins (11 by KO), 6 losses, and 2 draws. He won 18 of his first 20 pro bouts, but never fought for a title. He attempted to return to fighting in 2002 but could not get a license. Banks was inducted into the USA Boxing Hall of Fame in 1993. After he stopped fighting, Banks worked as a trainer at Johnny Tocco’s Ringside Boxing Gym.
