George Atkinson competed in the 1908 motorboating competition in the A-Class onboard the Wolseley-Siddeley, alongside [Winchester Clowes], [Joseph Laycock], and [Hugh, Duke Westminster]. The boat failed to finish the event when it ran aground near Hamble Bouy as the tide was rescinding on Southampton Water on the third lap of the second race . In 1899, Atkinson is known to have raced a yacht called Zeila, but nothing else is known of his life.
