Full name: Fernande Arendt (-Jamar)
Gender: Female
Born: 1891
Country: BEL Belgium
Sport: Tennis

Biography

Belgian Fernande Arendt played both singles and doubles at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics. She played only one match in singles, losing it, but because of a bye and walkover, that came in the quarter-finals. Arendt and [Marie Storms ] won one match in doubles, but lost in the semi-finals, and then withdrew before contesting the bronze medal match against [Suzanne Lenglen] and [Elisabeth d’Ayen].

Arendt and Storms were Belgian doubles champions in 1920, 1922, and 1924, although in 1922 and 1924 Arendt played under her married name of Mrs. Armand Jamar. It is possible, though not proven, that André Jamar, who played Davis Cup for Belgium in 1958, was their son.
