Stathead is Closing Down
Stathead is Closing Down
With apologies to our dedicted users, we’ve decided to stop publishing the Stathead blog. The blog just never generated the needed readership to be profitable, so we’ve decided to end the project and put our efforts into other projects.
Thank you to the readers who supported us. Thank you for the publishers for putting so much great content out there. And especially, thank you for Neil Paine, our intrepid users affairs maestro, who waded through hundreds of articles each week distilling them down to their essence.
If anyone cares to pick up the torch and run with this idea (or if you just want to get the articles for yourself), I’ve attached an OPML file from the list of RSS feeds we were using for this blog. Feel free to grab it and add it to your favorite RSS reader.

All I’ll say is that I was one of those dedicated readers. I’m gonna miss stathead. [I don't know how to do the coding & stuff necessary to make it work, but I wish that I did. I hope that somebody does.]

Awesome work guys. I am sure the stuff learned from this experiment will help in future work. Looks forward to whatever that next project is.

Thank you so much guys. I’ve learned so much from following this blog over the past few months. It’s been real.

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this. I checked this aggregator every day, as there was nothing else like it to my knowledge. I am sorry to see it go.

Neil and co., thank you so much for giving this a shot even though it’s a lot of work. More than a couple times a week, I found an article from stathead that I wouldn’t have found otherwise outside of baseball, basketball, and football, my main three sports. Thank you!

Disappointed, though it’s surely understandable. Hope to see somebody else carrying the torch.

Maybe stathead should make an iphone/android app and set that as a priority.
I am pretty sure there will be a lot more users.

how long will the old articles stay up? I just discovered this blog and meant to go back through all the entries at some point!

Sad day, but thanks for all of the good links!

I’m late to the party and just noticed this was no longer up and running. That’s too bad; I really enjoyed seeing our articles featured here and appreciated the link love. I also found articles by others that I wouldn’t have otherwise. I know how hard it is to keep things like this going so I can empathize. Thanks for giving it a go, fellas.

Joseph, not sure if you’ll actually see this comment, but adding the feeds to read yourself is quite easy.
1) Right click the “Stathead RSS Subscriptions in OPML format” link and save the file to your desktop.
2) Sign up for google reader at http://www.google.com/reader.
3) Click “manage subscriptions” on the left side of the page.
4) Click “import/export” under settings at the top of the page
5) Click “browse”, select the file you saved to your desktop, then click upload. You’re all set.
Enjoy!
