The 1994 Olympic bobsleigh events were held at the new Hunderfossen run some 15 kilometres to the north of Lillehammer. The track was completed by the end of 1990 and the first competitions were held in early 1991. The track measured 1395 m and had 16 curves with a vertical drop of 114 m resulting in an average gradient of 8.5%.
Although the Games saw another batch of new nations competing, notably Trinidad, American Samoa and Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Alpine nations remained unchallenged. The two-man event turned into a domestic battle between two Swiss bobs whilst German crews placed first and third in the four-man event.
