The single individual event consisted of an 18 km ski race, with the start and finish in Sankt Moritz Bad. The 1928 Nordic combined used the results from the open 18 km race, rather than a separate race. This was followed one day later by ski jumping, with all jumpers having two attempts on the St. Moritz hill, both marks to count. The Nordic combined also used the open ski jumping results, basically combining scores in the 18 km and ski jumping event.
