Chu Mu-Yen (TPE) had won the World Championship in 2003, and was runner-up in 2001 in the finweight (54 kg.) division. He was the clear favorite in this class at Athína. He won his opening match by TKO, and his second-round match, 9-1. In the semi-finals, he faced Tamer Salah of Egypt, who pushed him. Chu scored a point in the last minute of the match to win 5-4. His final victory over Mexico's Óscar Salazar was quite easy. Salah won the bronze medal.
