Summary

The silver medalists in this event in 2000, Japan’s Miya Tachibana and Miho Takeda, improved to win the 2001 World Championships. But by 2003, the dominant duo was the Russian team of Anastasiya Davydova and Anastasiya Yermakova, who defeated the Japanese at the 2003 World Championships. The Russians did not disappoint, performing an almost perfect final routine to easily defeat the Japanese. Yermakova later remarked, “We don’t want to brag, but the most difficult was not beating the Japanese, but the selection for the duo from the Russian team.”
