Summary

Austrians Roman Hagara and Hans-Peter Steinacher were the defending champions. They were greeted with light wind conditions on several days, which was their forté, and allowed them to easily defend their gold medal, winning four races along the way. The silver medal winning American crew of John Lovell and Charlie Ogletree was racing in their third Olympics together in this class, and would compete again in 2008, but this was their only medal. The Argentine bronze medalists, Santiago Lange and Carlos Espínola, would also return in 2008, repeating their third-place finish. For Espinola that would be his fourth Olympic medal, as he had won silver medal in the Mistral class at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics.
