The 1995 World Champion was [Allen Johnson] (USA), while the 1993 World Championships gold medalist was 1988 Olympic silver medalist, [Colin Jackson] (GBR). Jackson had also won the European and Commonwealth titles in 1990 and 1994. The two were considered co-favorites in Atlanta. But the final was not close. Johnson pulled clear at the fourth hurdle and won easily over American [Mark Crear], while Jackson finished out of the medals in fourth place.
