Summary

The preliminary round advanced eight shooters to the final, led by Germany’s Hubert Bichler with 598, but all the other finalists had recorded 597. Thus it came down completely to the final round. Korea’s Lee Eun-Chul shot the highest final round, with 105.5, to win the gold medal. Silver medalist Harald Stenvaag had first represented Norway internationally at the 1974 World Championships.
