Overview

There were no changes to the men’s program. For the third consecutive Olympics, a women’s event was added to the program, this time the individual pursuit on the track, giving women two track events and one road event. The track events in 1992 were as follows: women’s individual pursuit and match sprint; and men’s kilometer time trial, match sprint, individual pursuit, team pursuit, and points race. All were contested at the Vélodrom d’Horta. This was a 333.33 metre wooden-surfaced track but was outdoors, unlike in 1976, 1980, and 1988. The road events were an individual men’s mass start race of 194.4 km., an individual women’s mass start race of 81.0 km., and a four-man men’s team time trial, raced over 102.8 km. The team time trial was raced over the Circuit de Catalunya, while the road races were conducted on the Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.
