Archery was back on the Olympic Program, as in 1972, and again contested a men’s and women’s individual event. The archery events were held at the Terrain de tir à l'arc olympique, or the Olympic Archery Range, which was in Joliette, Québec, a small city about 50 km northeast of Montréal, on L’Assumption River. No other events were contested there. This was a temporary outdoor venue constructed specifically for the 1976 Olympic archery competition.
