The final round in flyweight Greco-Roman came down to Soviet Nikolay Solovyov, Italy’s Ignazio Fabra, the 1955 World Champion, and Turkey’s Dursun Ali Eğribaş. The three tied in the final round with four bad points and all had records of 1-1 against one another. Solovyov won the gold medal on a tiebreaker, with the silver going to Fabra. Fabra had also been silver medalist in this class at Helsinki, and would place fourth in Roma in 1960.
