The final round in flyweight Greco-Roman came down to Soviet [Nikolay Solovyov], Italy’s [Ignazio Fabra], the 1955 World Champion, and Turkey’s [Dursun Ali Eğribaş]. The three tied in the final round with four bad points and all had records of 1-1 against one another. Solovyov won the gold medal on a tiebreaker, with the silver going to Fabra. Fabra had also been silver medalist in this class at Helsinki, and would place fourth in Roma in 1960.
