Summary

The six event combined all-around used the score from five event combined all-around and added the side horse vault as a sixth event. A similar unusual situation existed in the six event all-around competition as in the five-event all-around. The maximum score here was 120 with 20 given as the maximum for each of the six events. All athletes scoring between 110 and 120 were considered to have finished first. All athletes scoring between 100 and 110 were considered to have finished second. Thus, in this event, we have the very unusual situation in which nine athletes finish "tied" for first, and eight finish "tied" for second. In this event the highest scoring athlete was again France's Pierre Payssé.
