The tennis events of the 1896 Olympics were held at the [cycling velodrome], the Neon Phaliron, and at the [Athens Lawn Tennis Club, near the Ilissos River]. Two tennis courts were constructed in the infield of the velodrome and a few matches were contested there. The tennis tournament had none of the top players in the world, who were mostly the Brits who starred at Wimbledon. No Americans competed either.
