A Swansea docker, Alfred Yeoumans was the winner of the AAA 2mil walk in 1906. He was credited with some exceptional times in the West Country, the most suspect of which was a clocking of exactly six minutes for the mile in an exhibition. His style was always rather suspect and he was disqualified from the AAA 2 miles in 1907. He was surprisingly selected for the longer of the two walking races at the 1908 Olympics, but was eliminated in the heats. Personal Best: 2 mile Walk – 12:53.2 (1906). |
