Biography

Eric Whiteside competed for India at the 1936 Olympics but was also an outstanding boxer. He was All-Indian Lightweight Boxing Champion three times before he took up athletics. In 1948 he and his family emigrated to Australia, where his son, [Ray], took up hockey and competed for Australia at the 1956 Olympics in that sport.

Personal Bests\: 100y – 9.9 (1935); 200 – 21.7 (1936).
