He joined his first senior level team, the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen, in 1955 and accompanied them when they were sent to the 1956 Winter Olympics as representatives from Canada in ice hockey. At the tournament he was the youngest player on the team and played in eight games, scoring two goals and taking home a bronze medal for his country. Upon his return he played one more season with the Dutchmen before entering the University of Michigan in the fall of 1956. There he excelled on the school's hockey team, now playing as a defenseman, and he was named an All-American in 1958 and 1959. He graduated in 1960 and returned to Canada briefly, associating himself with Senior Ontario Hockey Association's Windsor Bulldogs for two seasons before retiring from active play. He now resides in Plymouth, Michigan and has remained active in a volunteer capacity at University of Michigan hockey games. |
