Biography

Still skating in 2009 after twenty years on the ice, hockey left winger Todd Warriner spent his formative years in Ontario with the Blenheim Blades (1988-1989), Chatham Maroons (1989-1990), Windsor Spitfires (1990-1993), and Kitchener Rangers (1992-1994). Along the way, he won top prospect awards from the Ontario and Canadian Hockey Leagues. He was drafted by the National Hockey League’s Quebec Nordiques in 1992, but elected to spend the 1993-1994 season with the Canadian men’s ice hockey team and joined them at the 1994 Winter Olympics. At the tournament he played in five games, scored one goal, and took home a silver medal. Upon his return he suited up for ten playoff matches with the American Hockey League’s Cornwall Aces, but was traded to the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and split the following two years between Toronto and the AHL’s St. John's Maple Leafs. He then skated exclusively with Toronto until the 1999-2000 season, when he was sent to the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning. After his affiliation with the Lightning ended in 2001 he remained in the league until 2003, suiting up with the Phoenix Coyotes (2001), Vancouver Canucks (2001-2002), Philadelphia Flyers (2002), and Nashville Predators (2002-2003), in addition to the AHL’s Springfield Falcons and Manitoba Moose during the 2001-2002 season. He then took his career to Europe where he has remained since, skating with Finland’s Jokerit Helsinki (2003-2004), Switzerland’s local Morges team (2004-2005), and Germany’s Hannover Scorpions (2005-2007) and Cologne Sharks (2007-2009).
