Lisa-Marie Vizaniari was Australian shot put champion in 1995, and won the national discus title in 1996 and 1999. At the Commonwealth Games, she won a discus gold in 1990, adding a shot put bronze in 1994, and a discus silver in 1998. After competing at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, she left athletics and turned to boxing professionally. She became Australian and South Pacific heavyweight champion, winning four bouts between 2001-04, the last two against New Zealander Ali Dutt. Vizaniari then retired because she could not get bouts down under, only to return in 2012 to again defeat Dutt, this time for the World Boxing Foundation heavyweight title.
