Biography

Arnold Vitarbo won a gold medal in free pistol at the 1967 Pan American Games and then just missed the medals at the 1968 Olympics, placing fourth. Vitarbo started a military career in the Marines in the 1950s, but then became a career Air Force non-com officer, and coached the Air Force in shooting into the 1990s. He was US Shooting Coach from 1990-94, and then served as a consultant to USA Shooting. After leaving the Air Force, he coached the University of Utah pistol team starting in 2002.
