Centre-forward Andrey Troshchinsky started his professional career in 1994 with Dynamo Moskva’s reserve team, while his older brother [Aleksey] played with Dynamo’s main team. From 1996-99 Troshchinsky played with Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk. In 1998 Troshchinsky was drafted 170th overall by the St. Louis Blues, but never played in the NHL. Instead, Troshchinsky played the 1999-2000 season with GKS Katowice in Poland and then two seasons from 2000-02 with the St. Louis Blues AHL affiliate Worcester IceCats.

In 2002 Troshchinsky returned to Europe and after playing a few games with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in Russia, he played the next seven seasons up to 2009 again with Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk, except for a short two game spell with Barys Astana in 2008. He finished out his career with Acroni Jesenice in Slovenia, Rubin Tyumen in Russia, and then jumped around on four clubs in Kazakhstan through the 2014/15 season – Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk, Saryarka Kargandy, Yertis Pavlodar, and Arlan Kokshetau.

Internationally, after playing with the Kazakhstan U18 and U20 teams from 1994-98, Troshchinsky was on the Kazakhstan national team from 1998-2007. He played with them at the 2006 Winter Olympics and the 1998, 2000 and 2003-07 World Championships. He also won gold at the 1999 Asian Winter Games and silvers at the 2003 and 2007 Asian Winter Games. On the morning of 21 December 2015, Troshchinsky woke up feeling very ill, and soon thereafter died of a heart attack in the ambulance on the way to hospital.
