Amy Tryon first represented the United States internationally at the 1999 Pan-American Games, where she placed fourth in the individual three-day event. She helped the USA team win the gold medal at the 2002 World Equestrian Games, although it came with a price. Tryon had a serious fall at those games, injuring her back, which required surgery. She came back to represent the US at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics and was name Eventing Horseman of the Year in 2006 by Chronicle of the Horse. Tryon worked many hours as a both a firefighter and paramedic, in addition to training for her eventing competitions. |
