Biography

Alex Treves competed for Salle Santelli and Rutgers University. Fencing sabre, Treves was undefeated in college at Rutgers, winning the NCAA sabre title in 1949-50. He also helped Rutgers to the 1949 NCAA team title. Treves won three team sabre titles at the Amateur Fencers League of America (AFLA) Championships in 1952 and 1955-56. In 1953 he won the World Military Sabre Championship, followed in 1954 by winning the Italian University Sabre title. Treves was elected to the Rutgers Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
