Biography

Polish painter Wanda Telakowska studied painting and graphic design in Warszawa at the School of Fine Arts and later played a significant role in the development of professional industrial design in Poland. In 1939, she was planning the establishment of an “employment agency for necessary artists in the industrial sector”, but the war prevented this and during World War II all of her previous works were destroyed. After the war, in 1950 she initiated the establishment of the Institute of Industrial Design in Warszawa. As a Vice-President Telakowska highly influenced the institute’s work up to the 1970s. In her last years she lost her sight.
