Vladimir Taynikov had the following podium finishes at the Flatwater World Championships: 1st 1978 K2 1000 m (with Sergey Chukhray), 2nd 1979 K4 500 m (with Sergey Chukhray and the non-Olympians Sergey Zhinkarenko and Jonas Zautra), 3rd 1978 K2 500 m (with Sergey Chukhray), 3rd 1979 K2 1000 m (with Sergey Chukhray).
