Biography

Starting for Polonia Bydgoszcz, Szczepański broke through when he moved to ŁKS Łódź in 1957. Playing as a right defender mostly, he was known for his great speed, earning him the nickname "Burza" (Storm). With ŁKS, he won the Polish national cup (1957) and the league title (1958). He played out his career at Odra Opole (1960-67). Szczepański made his national team début in 1957, earning 45 caps through 1965, including 24 as the team's captain. He competed in the 1960 Olympics with the national team, but failed to make the quarter-finals. After his active career, Szczepański was a coach for almost three decades, notably coaching Gwardia Warszawa on five separate occasions.
