Biography

Though born in Canada, Red Synott came to America as a young man and fought with the U.S. Navy in World War I. He had by then become a well-known hockey star, playing with the Boston Maples, the Arena Hockey Club, and the Boston AA team. After retiring from hockey he became a referee in local college games and also for the Canadian-American Hockey League. Synott worked as a printer for the Boston Herald newspaper for most of his life. He became a US citizen on 6 September 1918.
