Biography

Although aged 38, Harry Stiff was a newcomer to the City of London Police Tug-of-War team that won the gold medals at the 1920 Olympics. After leaving the police force, Stiff later became the landlord of the Horse and Groom Public House, Cornish Hall End, near Finchingfield, Essex where he lived up to the time of his death at the age of 57 in 1939
