Biography

Erika Strößenreuther started her sports career as a swimmer but later switched to javelin throwing. She failed to qualify for the finals both at the 1960 Roma Olympic Games and the 1962 European Championships. Strößenreuther participated in seven international matches, and won her only West German title in 1960. She married sprinter and non-Olympian Michael Gernandt. By profession she worked as a sports teacher.

Personal Best: JT – 52.03 (1961).
