Charles Stanmore represented Australia in two individual and two team events at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games. Two year earlier he had been a member of the Australian trio that won team épée gold at the 1950 British Empire Games. He later became a leading light of the New South Wales Fencing Association and coached numerous national team members. Stanmore was a founder of the Sydney Fencing Club. Charles Stanmore had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1950 British Empire Games Épée, Team (with Allan Jay and Ivan Lund). |
