Biography

The 1928 Olympics were the only major international tournament in which Aukusti Sihvola participated. At the Olympics, Sihvola lost to the eventual gold medal winner [Johan Richthoff] in the first round, but then defeated his two opponents [Ed Don George] and [Edmond Dame] in the second-place tournament and won a silver medal. In addition to his Olympic silver, Sihvola won six Finnish titles: in 1927-28 and 1931 in freestyle heavyweight and in 1929-30 and 1934 in freestyle light-heavyweight.
