Luis Serra had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1963 Pan American Games 4000 metres pursuit team (with Rubén Etchebarne, Alberto Velázquez, and Juan José Timón), 2nd in the 1955 Pan American Games 4000 metres pursuit team (with Alberto Velázquez and Julio Sobrera), 3rd in the 1955 Pan American Games 1000 metres track time trail.
