Biography

Although he never figured prominently in the AAA Championship races on the track, Sydney Schofield was a member of the Surrey WC team that won the RWA 20 miles team title eight times between 1908 and 1924 and he was individual winner in 1909. In May 1911 he set a British record for the 25-mile walk and was present when the mark was finally broken 44 years later by Don Thompson. After retirement he became a leading official and judge.

Personal Bests: 20 mile Walk – 2-56:48.4 (1909); 25 mile Walk – 3-37:06.8 (1911).
