Fritz Schwab won a gold medal at the 1950 European Championships, a silver at the 1946 Europeans, and was eighth at the 1954 Europeans, all in the 10 km walk. He also won a bronze and a silver medal at the 1948 London and the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games, both over 10 km.
Fritz was the son of race walker [Arthur Schwab], who won a silver medal at the 1936 Berlin Games and was then killed during a heavy air raid while on a train transport to Switzerland in 1945.
