Biography

Dutch painters Egbert Schaap and [Hendrika Schaap-van der Pek] were a couple. After her death he married singer Frieda Mooy. From 1884-87 Egbert Scaap, who considered himself a teacher, studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. Until 1913 he painted and taught watercolors in a dark color palette, specializing in urban and woodland scenes, while belonging to the Amsterdam impressionist circle. With his first wife he lived a life of great wealth, as both were enriched by their art.
