Sauli Rytky made his first international appearance at the 1938 World Championships, where he was 48th in the 18 km. In 1944 Rytky won his only Finnish Championship at 18 km and in 1945 he won the 18 km race in Boden, Sweden, placing second at 18 km at the Lahti Ski Games. Rytky made his last international appearance at the 1948 Winter Olympics, where he won a silver as a member of the Finnish relay team and was sixth in the 18 km. After his competitive career Rytky worked as a board member of the Finnish Skiing Federation from 1963-68 and worked as a cross-country coach. He was also a civil engineering contractor and farmer. |
