Uta Rohländer, a 400 runner, and the daughter-in-law of [Dieter Fromm], came in sixth at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics with the 4x400 relay and took the bronze medal four years later in Atlanta. She was nominated for the 2000 Olympics but due to Achilles problems could not start. At the World Championships Rohländer won three 4x400 relay medals – bronze in 1991 and 1999, and gold in 1997. She also came in first at the 1998 World Cup with the relay, and was second in 1994. At the European Championships Rohländer won a 1994 bronze medal adding gold in 1998.
Domestically Rohländer earned the last East German relay title in 1990, and after reunification won German titles in 1997 in the 3x800 (indoors), and in 1998 at 400 metres. By profession she became a high school teacher and physiotherapist.
