Biography

Cundi Rodríguez competed in the 1968 Winter Olympics as an alpine skiier, although it would be over 40 years before that was recognized. The 1968 Official Results list Jorge Rodríguez, who did compete in the giant slalom in 1968 and downhill in 1964, as one of the four Spanish slalom skiiers, and that was repeated in all record books over the years. But research by Olympic historian Fernando Arrechea revealed in 2012 that it was actually Cundi Rodríguez who competed in the slalom, and this was confirmed by the athletes themselves. Rodríguez also competed at the World Championships in 1972 and 1973 but was injured in 1973 at Val d’Isère, which ended his career. He later coached the Astur-Leonese Federation, before returning to his native small town of Tangle, where he worked as a postman, and skiied for pleasure.
