One of France’s most successful track sprinters of the 1990s, Florian Rousseau collected no less than 10 world titles. After winning the 1 km time trial in 1993-94, Rousseau won three consecutive sprint championships (1996-98) and five World Championships with the French team sprint squad (1997-2001). Additionally, Rousseau won the 1996 Olympic time trial, and collected three Olympic medals at the 2000 Sydney Games: gold in the sprint and keirin, and silver in the team sprint. Rousseau was also world junior champion in the kilometre in 1992. A 17-time French champion, he retired in 2002 to become become French national sprint coach at INSEP (Institut National du Sport et de l'Education Physique), the national sports institute. |
