Gustav Adolf Rau participated in the 1900 Paris Olympics. He was eliminated in the heats of the 200 hurdles, but won the non-medal event, 110 metre hurdles with handicap. With his personal best he set his only German record in 1903 in the 110 high hurdles. By profession he was a master of properties (requisites).
