Biography

Nikolay Puzanov was one of the top Soviet biathletes of the 1960s. In 1962, he won his only World title as member of the Soviet relay team. He added silver relay medals in 1965 and 1967, and an individual medal (20 km) in 1965. At the Olympics, the Soviet team took the highest honor again, although Puzanov's time was the weakest of the four team members. Puzanov also won three national titles, twice individually in 20 km (1963 and 1967) and once in the relay (1969). In 1970, he graduated from the Military Institute of Physical Culture. He continued working at the military academy, after failing to qualify for the 1972 Olympics.
