Biography

Viktor Polupanov began to play hockey with CSKA Moskva in 1964 and played there until 1971. With CSKA Moskva he won six Soviet titles (1964-66, 1968, 1970-71) and was the most successful player of the Soviet Championships, scoring the most points in 1967. He also won three European Champions Cup titles (1969-71) with them. Polupanov ended his playing career in 1972-73 with Krylya Sovetov Moskva. Internationally Polupanov won an Olympic gold in 1968 and won four World and European Championships titles (1966-68, 1970). He was also the best goal scorer at the 1967 World Championships with 11 goals, tied by Anatoly Firsov. Since 1997 a children’s ice hockey tournament named in his honor has been held in his birthplace of Khimki.
