Biography

Ding Palmer played on the 1933 U.S. National team which was the first American team to have won the World’s Championship in ice hockey. Palmer prepared for his international exploits while at Yale where he played on the hockey team for four years. In the 1927-28 season he scored an amazing 41 goals, including seven in one game against New Hampshire. He ended up setting the Yale record for career points scored and led the team to a 17-1-1 record in 1930, when they were called the greatest amateur hockey team in history. After college he played amateur hockey for several years with the St. Nicholas Hockey Club. He eventually settled in Connecticut, where he lived all his life and made his living as a stockbroker in New Haven.
