With four Olympic medals (one gold, two silver, one bronze) Angelo Parisi is one of the most successful judokas in Olympic history. Italian born, he won a bronze in the judo open class in 1972 representing Great Britain, and then represented France in 1980 and 1984, following his marriage to a Frenchwoman. In 1980, Parisi won the unlimited class title and placed second in the open class and in 1984 he won his fourth medal with a silver in the unlimited class. Parisi never managed to win at the World Championships, but reached 12 European Championship finals, winning six. |
