Biography

Anette Norberg is considered to have been Sweden's best curler of all times. She won international championships as skip for two different teams. In addition to her Olympic successes she won three World Championships (2005, 2006, 2011) and two silver and four bronze medals at the Worlds. At European Championships she won seven gold medals, including six consecutive victories between 2001-07, three silver and two bronze medals. At home she won nine Swedish Championships and placed second twice. Her international career spans a period of almost 30 years. In total, she earned 23 international championship medals between 1984 and 2011. She carried the Swedish flag at the 2006 Winter Olympic Closing Ceremony.

For many years Norberg represented her home club of Härnösand CK. The most successful line-up included Eva Lund, her sister Cathrine Lindahl and Anna Svärd-Le Moine, a team which won six European Championship gold medals, two World Championships and two Olympics. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver the team defended its Olympic gold medal when, in the final match against Canada, their captain Cheryl Bernard failed to place their best with the last stone.

After their 2010 Olympic gold the team fell apart. Norberg declared the end of very successful teams, but that she would continue with curling. She formed a new team, called Team Ahlmarks representing the Karlstad Curling Club. At the World Championships in Esbjerg, in March 2011, she won the World Championship gold with her new team by defeating Canada in the final. After two difficult seasons, in 2013 she terminated her curling career in order to engage more with her family and job. Norberg has a BA in Mathematics from Uppsala University and works as Chief Actuary at Folksam, one of Sweden’s largest insurance companies. She was awarded the Victoriastipendiet in 2012.
